Lashes do a 360!
Now THE FALSIES GLAM goes full circle.
2x MORE IMPACT for BIGGER EYES...
Revolutionary dual-ended mascara for 360' all around Lash Glam.
Two brushes specifically designed for Top and Bottom lashes.
Special quick-dry formula holds lashes in place.
UPPER BRUSH IMPACT
Pushes Upper lashes Over the Top.
(True. Gives awesome length. And it is in a flattering way .. some lengthening formulas can leave the tips of my lashes stringy - spidery or uneven.. The BIG EYES Mascara adds length without sacrificing anything else.)
Volumizes Top Lashes Corner to Corner.
(True. Very few mascara brushes reach from corner to corner on my wide/slanted shaped eyes .. so I am very surprised indeed that this New Maybelline formula does the extra work for me. I always have issues with the inner and outer corners becoming crossed, over- saturated, heavy and droopy, which causes my eyes and entire face to be pulled down --- not exactly the look I ever go for since this tired girl needs everything to be opened and lifted up ! ;)
LOWER BRUSH IMPACT
MICRO-BRUSH grabs every tiny bottom lash for a full-circle effect.
(True. I very rarely wear mascara on my non-existent bottom lashes for the very reason that most mascaras do not work well on the sparse lower part of our peepers... or I simply have a preference for all my products to be focused on the upper portion of my eyes for a more intense defining and shaping of my particular eye shape. But of course I would love the option to switch it up and create new looks --and the teeny tiny round shape of this brush and wand does exactly what I need it to. As stated above ... instead of only grabbing the 3 longest bottom lash hairs I have, it grabs lashes that I didn't even know existed! YET.. it is not so saturated and over-the- top that it drags my eyes down or looks crazy and unnatural on me. Perfect Job Maybelline.
The Lower Lash Micro-brush magnifies every tiny bottom lash edge to edge.
(True. I agree that it looks as if my bottom lashes have been subtly magnified to stand out and look like they should. Nothing more, nothing less. )
WOW! True statements throughout the advertising and marketing ... great job Maybelline! I am truly impressed...
This is Maybelline's FIRST EYE-OPENING Double Brush that AMPLIFIES lashes a full 360'!
MY RATING:
*****
PROS: Affordable.. results exceed the cost of the mascara. Creates Length and impact without weighing down lashes. The light and natural formula gives me the long fluttery lashes ... which opens eyes - making them appear larger than normal. The quick dry formula is awesome for us that want to layer and build because wetter formulas sometimes clump. Dual-ended brushes allows for options and saves time from switching between two mascaras.. The Waterproof version I accidentally ended up with was a mind-changer about "all" waterproof formulas being horrible for me. It turned out to be a bonus having the extra protection against running or smearing. It was not a huge pain to remove either
(I use the Equate version (Wal-martbrand) of the NeutrogenaEye Makeup Remover in the light Blue bottle. I have tested removers against my past favorite brand of eye makeup remover - Lancome- ad the Neutrogena seems to have identical results. Following that I discovered Equate'sversion does as well.. Save some moola ladies!) I loved the added security of the click-lock closure on both ends of the wand. This is a common mistake in packaging with many brands and no matter how much product is in the tube, without an airtight storage it is going to dry out quickly and too much money is wasted , especially on ones that cost $30 +. The Maybelline BIG EYES makes a click sound when you have the lid tightly closed so that at least you know you did your part to keep the formula nice and fresh for as long as possible!
CONS: Both brushes (bristles) are very weak and it takes a lot of time to reach the kind of impact and opacity I want. It takes more pressure and strokes than other mascaras I use. The quick dry formula is a Pro in the way I mentioned before.. but it also has its Cons because it seems to be already getting too dry even though I have used it only a week or two. I notice myself swirling the brush around in the tube trying to get as much product as I can and it still doesn't seem to ever be enough for a single application (or maybe I am too spoiled with using the thicker-wet mascaras? There are definitely pros and cons to each kind). Also... while having two different brushes to use is perfect, it leaves room for less product in its packaging and this mascara will not be lasting us a very long time at all.
I decided to purchase the Brownish Black shade simply because I have been more into using browns to enhance my eyes during the work week ( a step lighter than black is less harsh and works much better for daytime).
At first I thought it still looked very dark and wouldn't be much of a change from my normal black, but once I got into the natural light I noticed a big difference not only in my eyes-- but the overall feel of my makeup. .
It appears to make my eyes stand out even more since it allows them to keep the focus and attention... Of course, even though Black Mascara will always be the 'most' gorgeous on lashes.. when spending an extensive amount of time working in natural daylight , I have noticed the layers of Jet black makeup can be the first or only thing I see (and this is especially true for longer lashes like mine. Black can be harsh or unnatural looking and from my experience it will highlight any sort of flaw my lashes have or any mistakes I made while applying. Haha.. not always good for someone like me! )
So.. using the brownish-black coloron my lashes has been a pleasantsurprise and makes me feel a little less self conscience with wearing a heavier application ... I get the volume and definition but in a slightly less noticeableway :) The lovely shade -- matched with the Maybelline BIG EYES Formula -- seem to be a match made in heaven for the look I have been searching for.
The side of the tube holding the Upper Lash wand has a mid-size brush wrapped in semi-soft bristles to coat and darken the lashes with this unique instant-dry formula, while maintaining the integrity of their natural shape and super light weight.
It covers my lashes with defining color from root to tip - edge to edge... adding darkness to highlight and enhance eye shape... but does so without the thick- heavy coating of a regular mascara. Because of the quick-dry quality, I am able to quickly apply as many layers as I desire with no waiting for the previous coat to dry or worry that I will make a hot mess and have to start over.
This has definitely prevented mistakes and flaws in the final result (not to mention the unavoidable frustration)... because as most of you girls more than likely do-- I do not allow a wetter formula to totally dry on my lashes before adding the next layer. This is where the nearly un-fixable spider lashes come in.. or the lovely clumps that send each frail little lash drooping south for the rest of the day! I have definitely enjoyed the freedom of having one less thing to work against me trying to keep my eyes wide open through the work day.
The first thing that came to mind when I pulled the lower lash brush out of the tube was how much it looks like Cliniques mascara for bottom lashes. If I am not mistaken, Maybelline's is just as small but longer in length.. which is not a bad thing at all in my book because it reaches from "edge to edge" in one flick.
The ideal brush size and length, paired with Maybelline's new and unique formula, makes for a gorgeous bottom lash look that seems almost to good to be true and too easy to achieve. Which is something I find to be a rarity in the makeup product world. So even though I am not a dedicated fan of major lower lashes.. I am very happy to have myBIG EYES to rock the look whenever the mood strikes and know it will be done in a way that looks very classic and flattering for me.
The Top photo represents the COLORof the formula a little better...
In the past I would have never thought of using anything but black mascara... But after seeing how equally flattering a more natural shade can be, I find myself going for my Taupe Eye Pencils and the Brownish-black mascaras for an easier-to-wear makeup look that makes my features look just as nice but in a very different way than darker colors do.
Plus it is way easier to maintain ...touch ups are nonexistent becauseany changes that wear and tear or weather (etc) brings on throughout the day is barely noticeablecompared to the obvious smudges, streaks and fading of a black.
(DO not get me wrong though, there is just something about a super black liquid eye liner or mascara.. I refuse to live without them and still wear them on a regular basis. It is just nice to change it up and show a different side of beauty and makeup too)The swatches above I decided to share to show the difference in results of the two brushes.
The Lower lash, even though it is much smaller, leaves behind a more solid and opaque application of the product. The Upper lash has a lighter result which explains the more natural results I get.
Something very cool I discovered doing this ...when product was on my hand (even in this very large amount), it was only seconds before it set and when I rubbed it at different times throughout the rest of the day, the mascara never moved a bit. With that said... since I have owned it a week or so now, I also noticed that the waterproof part doesn't always apply with every application. Depending on which foundations or concealers I used along with the Maybelline BIG EYES.. determined whether or not I would see transfer on my lids and under my eyes. I still have to make sure to prime, powder and set everything really well around the eye area or before I know it I glance at myself in a mirror and see black spots across my lid where the tips of my lashes touch, this is the same for the bottom as well. SO .. do not think Waterproof means impossible. On my dry hand it was waterproof.. but added to an area close to where I have used moisturizers or makeup products with a moisturizer in it, it still didn't prevent the dreadful black eyes! So a tip to use when you are needing a guarantee flawless face for a long period of time -- just avoid heavy creams around the eye area and I even avoid any makeup products that use the word "dewy" or any other word associated with moisture. This should make all the difference in how long things like mascara and eye liners last whether they are waterproof or not. Don't be a stranger!
