The real skin/ natural look is my favorite thing about this product. No more being self conscience when I step outside or have my picture taken..
It also has this "Halo" effect, leaving the most beautiful glow and radiant appearance to my skin.
This foundation is so smooth and light it's like a dream...
It seems to posses all the qualities I look for in my makeup.
- It covers everything --acne, scars, sun damage -- and because it has a beautiful - yet - subtle light effect, it disguises the indentions and scars I have from past acne.
- I usually prefer oil- or silicone base products for the feel but even though this one is oil-free it feels silky on my skin. It gives a very natural skin texture and flawless appearance.
- The consistency is an ideal one for me... A small amount evens out my complexion and cancels out any redness or discoloration--or add a little more and get a flawless look without cakiness.
- The shade selection I love ... the shades I tried all seemed to look natural. Undertone can be a toughie for me and many times I have to sacrifice the warmth and wear a lighter shade so I don't have a pink face and brown neck and body (which using a shade too light will show more imperfections or look cakey). (I am in the 4-5- or 6 range depending on where I am with my tan. I get at least two shades in each of my foundations for this reason... I tan really fast but I also lose it just as fast so day to day is different.
Overall...
I have been trying to get this review done over a good amount of time and I pleased to report that I am still loving this foundation. It is easy to apply a fast application on my rushed mornings. No matter what condition my skin is in, there is something about the Halo that makes me look healthier and more youthful everytime I wear it...
The cool fall weather has fully set in and my skin is appreciating the dewy finish the Halo offers. Winter brings the dilemma of having dry patches mixed with oily patches leaving me stuck in the whole "to SET or not to SET"... but with the Smashbox Halo I can set my face and have a balanced texture and finish.
I still cant label it a "Holy Grail" foundation simply because I consider that to be a full coverage product with a light flawless feel/finish..
Halo is high up on my list though because of the perfect way this easy-to-use liquid meshes with my combo skin - the coverage is just right for my day job where the sun is beaming down, showing every flaw of makeup present. So the texture of my skin looks totally natural and even if a freckle shows through her and there, my skin looks like real skin and I can feel much more confident no matter what.
